was ten years ago that I met you. I never forgot you. You left an
impression then, and now ten years later. I am admire you for your
courage, your fortitude, and your search for truth. At the time I
had met you, I just moved from a little town near Upper Sandusky.
Being A small country girl I never knew what awaited me in Tiffin.
Soon I found myself drowning my problems away in alcohol and other
self-distructive behaviors. Eventually, I went into the hospital
for 37 days because I thought the only way out of my pain was
death. Through a lot of courage, and soul searching I am now
living a very productive life. Soon I will be attending Heidleberg
to receive my LPC. I am also a facilitator in Findlay for AMAC and
non-offending parent groups. In addition, I work for Open
arms-with women and men who have been raped. Reaching out and
helping others to live a more productive and healthy life Is very
rewarding. I would love to meet you and Christine for dinner. I

emphatically congradulate the idividuals involved in this program.
What most people tend to dismiss, or simply not recognize about
suicide in particular is: the way it spreads. Suicide is like a
violent plague. I know this about this terrible virus because I
have experienced it far too much in my 27 years. My mother,
husband, cousin, and 2 additional family members have all suicided
in the last 5 years. Depression is a killer. I am also inpressed
with the attention to violence. I recently finished a disturbing
book called "Ghosts from the Nursery" about toddler,
young & teen violence. It is said that as of now, 1999, teen
violence has grown to pass adult violence. Half a million women
are raped in a single year. This is 1 in 3 women. I have 2 daught!
ers, this statistic scares me. These are issues we need to face
NOW, before it's too late and other families feel the wrath that
mine has. Congrats to you.
